Hiddensee

The island used to be the haunt of some famous artists and writers in the first half of this century. The best known is the German author Gerhard Hauptmann who owned a house here which is now a museum. Unfortunately we didn't get around to see it, I think it must have been more interesting than the other museum. But, as we say to each other, we'll see it when we come back - three days are not nearly enough on Hiddensee. This last evening we have dinner at the best and oldest hotel, Hotel Hitthim which is good and no more expensive than other places we have been.
